Meaning
Look, our Mother is a spirit, a mad one. She loves the mad god who holds the blazing fire. In the good music, in the ocean of joy, she plunges into the rising, surging mass of waves and revels there; she leaps and springs, our Mother. In the lovely grove of sweet-worded poetry, she wears the great flowers that pour honey and breathe a divine fragrance, and she dances, full of wine. She sings the Vedas, mark you; she grips truth in her hand like a spear and springs up; and having grasped a crore of scriptures too hard to be recited, she sows them over the whole world. And if it is the war of Bharata, is that easy? She blazes on the bow in valiant Partha's hand, and though a crore of Marathas come, in an instant she destroys them and revels in their blood.

Explanation
This song sings the Mother as a mad one, a spirit seized. In Tamil tradition madness is not an illness; it is the state of someone possessed by overwhelming love of God. In that state she plunges into the ocean of music, wears flowers, is full of wine and dances; she sings the Vedas; she grips truth like a spear.
Then the song turns suddenly to the battlefield. She blazes on Partha's bow, and though a crore of Marathas come she revels in their blood. So affection and music on one side and war and death on the other cannot be separated here: Bharathiyar's Mother will kill a man and sing a song.
To reflect on
This Mother sings a song and revels in blood. Why does Bharathiyar not hide the fact that tenderness and violence live in the same person?
