Explanation
This is a ten-line blessing, close to a rosary of Bharathiyar's wishes. Each line is an action: live, die away, come, perish, grow, bow down, rise, rise day by day. The verse does not describe; it commands and blesses at once.
Its special mark is the meeting of two names in the last two lines: 'the people of Nandey' and the mantra 'Vande Mataram'. The song of Bengal joins the blessing of the Tamil land in one breath, and the nation is spoken by two tongues at the same time.
Because every line is a verb, the poem is not only a blessing but a small commission: it hands the listener work to do.
To reflect on
When every line of a blessing is a verb, does the reader also get a share in it?
