Meaning
We shall not die serving strangers in our own land - and from now on we shall not be afraid. Will any land accept these injustices? Will God look on? Till our life leaves us we shall cry Vande Mataram and bow our heads. Is it base, is it shameful, to honour the mother who is our very life? Shall our wealth be plundered all day long, and shall we die? Shall we sit and weep? Are we not men? Is life not worth winning? Are we thirty crore people all dogs, all pig's brood? Are you alone human? Is this justice, or is it stubbornness? Is loving Bharata a sin, a grief of the mind? Is it a crime to end the subjection you talk of - is there hatred in that? We have understood, we have chosen well, that the way of unity is the only way. For all the cruelty you do we shall not falter; our minds shall not be scattered. Even if you cut our flesh to pieces, will your purpose be bent? Will our life stop? Will the great devotion shining within the heart depart? Will the heart burn out?

Explanation
This is the direct reply to the officer's speech, in the voice of the patriot Chidambaram Pillai. The decision is stated in the first line: we shall not die, and we shall not be afraid - fear is a state of mind, not a political condition.
The finest part is the closing run of questions: are we dogs, pig's brood, are you alone human? Here humanity itself becomes the political demand.
The last two lines hold that the purpose will not bend even if the body is cut to pieces, so the freedom in this song is not only of the body but of the will.
