மகாபாரதம், சபா பர்வம் மற்றும் சல்ய பர்வம்துரியோதனனின் தொடை
மகாபாரதத்திலிருந்து. சூதாட்ட மண்டபத்தில் திரௌபதி இழுத்து வரப்பட்டபோது, துரியோதனன் அவளை இகழ்ந்து, தன் தொடையைத் தட்டிக் காட்டி அவமதித்தான். அதைக் கண்ட பீமன் சபையின் நடுவே சபதம் செய்தான்: “போரில் இந்தத் தொடையை என் கதையால் உடைப்பேன்.”
பதின்மூன்று ஆண்டுகள் கழித்து, குருக்ஷேத்திரப் போரின் இறுதி நாளில், பீமனும் துரியோதனனும் கதைப்போர் புரிந்தனர். கண்ணனின் குறிப்பால் பீமன் துரியோதனனின் தொடையையே அடித்து உடைத்தான்.
அன்று சபையில் செய்த இழிசெயல், அதே தொடையில் விளைவாகத் திரும்பி வந்தது. காலையில் விதைத்தது மாலையில் விளைந்தது.
Mahabharata, Sabha and Shalya ParvasDuryodhana's Thigh
From the Mahabharata. When Draupadi was dragged into the hall of dice, Duryodhana mocked her and insulted her by baring and slapping his thigh. Seeing this, Bhima swore before the assembly: 'In battle I will break that thigh with my mace.'
Thirteen years later, on the last day of the Kurukshetra war, Bhima and Duryodhana fought with maces. At a sign from Krishna, Bhima struck and shattered Duryodhana's thigh.
The insult offered in the assembly that day came back to strike the very same thigh. What was sown in the forenoon was reaped in the afternoon.
