Meaning

It enters the life and melts it; it melts the feelings; it melts the evils within this body that seem like faults taking form. Sadagopan, servant of the feet of Krishna who stole and stole and ate curd along with melted ghee, is my father of Kurugur on the Porunai, which carries sandalwood and fine sand. His beautiful Tamil does all this.

Explanation

A heart melting as ghee melts is the mark of devotion. When we hear the Thiruvaimozhi, life and feeling melt; in that same warmth our evils too melt and dissolve.

Kambar fittingly brings in Krishna stealing butter. What Nammalvar melted over most was Krishna's simplicity: that the maker of the world stole butter in a cowherd woman's house and stood there bound.

Thiruvaimozhi 1.3.1 and Vaishnava tradition

'Eththiram!': The Alvar Who Swooned for Six Months

From Vaishnava tradition. The Bhagavatam tells how, when Krishna was a little boy, Yashoda tied him to a mortar with a rope. He who holds up all the worlds stood bound by a small rope, sobbing.

Nammalvar began to sing of this in the Thiruvaimozhi: 'Easy to reach for those who love him, hard for others, the wondrous one... caught stealing the butter churned with the rod, bound at the waist, what a thing it is, this simplicity, sobbing tied to the mortar!' At the word 'eththiram!', what a thing!, he fell into a swoon. The commentators say that, overwhelmed by that simplicity, he lay lost to the world for six months.

This is what Kambar means by Tamil that melts the life. These words melted even the one who sang them.
