Meaning

Grant me the home of your feet, redder than the lotus, so that I never again enter this hollow hut of a body! O guardian who hurled the shining spear through the Krauncha mountain, so that the sea boiled and Sura, standing as a mango tree, was hacked and flung down, gushing blood!

Explanation

'Veedu', home, means liberation. Instead of the leaky hut of the body, the Lord's feet are the lasting home. The trust is that the spear which destroyed Sura will also destroy the cycle of births.

From the Kanda Puranam, the slaying of Surapadman

The mango tree in the sea

In the final battle, the defeated Surapadman turned into a vast mango tree standing in the middle of the sea, its branches hiding the world. Murugan hurled his spear, and it split the tree in two. One half became the peacock, his mount; the other became the rooster, his banner. He did not stop at destruction: he gave even his enemy a place beside him.
