Meaning

By the grace of the Lord of Valli, the forest maiden, I crossed the fierce ocean of desire that lies in the waist, the neck, the ripe red lips, the bamboo-like shoulders, the navel and the breasts of beautiful women, using the firmness of an unshaken mind as my raft.

Explanation

Arunagirinathar, who was steeped in desire in his youth, says he crossed it not by his own effort but by the Lord's grace. The unshaken mind is the raft, and grace gave that too. It is an honest confession.

From the life of Bilvamangala (Leelasuka)

Chintamani's words

Young Bilvamangala was mad with love for the dancer Chintamani. One stormy night he swam the river clinging to a floating corpse as a raft and climbed her wall holding a snake he took for a rope. Shaken, she said, 'If you had given Krishna the love you give this perishing body, you would be free by now.' Those words transformed him. He became the saint Leelasuka and sang the Krishna Karnamritam.
