Meaning

I do not know how to take my devotion, pour it at your lotus feet, and lovingly receive the seal of grace. O worthy one who wields the Shakti spear so that ancient Sura trembled! O son of Ganga, who struck the mountain into husks! What have you destined for me, burdened with karma?

Explanation

The poet's humility: even devotion does not come by one's own effort. In the question 'What have you destined for me?' anxiety and trust are woven together.

From the Valmiki Ramayana, Bala Kandam

The fire Ganga carried

Vishwamitra told Rama and Lakshmana of Kumara's birth: Agni could not bear Shiva's radiance and gave it to Ganga. Ganga too could not bear its heat and laid it in a reed forest on the Himalayan slopes. There a shining child was born, and the Krittika maidens nursed him. So, Valmiki says, he came to be called Gangeya and Karttikeya.

On days you do not know how to offer devotion, what do you do?
