Valmiki Ramayana, Ayodhya KandaGuha Praises Bharata
From the Valmiki Ramayana, Ayodhya Kanda. Bharata came to the bank of the Ganga with a great army to bring Rama back. Guha, chief of the hunters, suspected, "He comes with an army to kill Rama," and readied his men for battle.
Guha met Bharata and asked his purpose. Bharata said, "I have come to bring my brother back to Ayodhya and make him king. This kingdom is his." Seeing the truth in his face and words, Guha's suspicion melted away.
Deeply moved, Guha said, "There is no one in this world like you, who wishes to give up a kingdom that came to him unasked." Bharata, who acted so that even the one who doubted him praised him, is the true meaning of the word worthy.
