Thatungkoal manaththai vitungkoal vekuliyaith thaanamenrum / Itungkoa liruntha patiyirung koalezhu paarumuyyak / Kotungkoapas soorutan kunrath thirakkath tholaikkavai vael / Vitungkoa narul vanthu thaanae yumakku velippatumae.

Meaning

Restrain the mind; give up anger; always give in charity; stay as you are, still. Then the grace of the Lord who hurled his sharp spear to pierce the fierce, furious Sura and the Krauncha mountain, so that the seven worlds might be saved, will reveal itself to you of its own accord.

Explanation

This is one of the simplest, most direct verses of advice in the Alankaram. There is no need to run anywhere for grace: restrain the mind, drop anger, give, be still, and grace comes 'of its own accord'. The spear that destroyed Sura will destroy the enemies within us too.

From the Srimad Bhagavatam, Book 9

The giving of Rantideva

King Rantideva had given away everything he owned. After forty-eight days of fasting, a little food and water came to him. As he began to eat, a hungry Brahmin arrived; he gave half. Then a poor man came, then a man with his dogs; he gave the rest. Finally a thirsty man came and he gave away his water too. Then all his visitors revealed themselves as the Trimurti and blessed him. He had asked for nothing; grace came of its own accord.
