Meaning

O Lord whose sharp spear pierced right through the famed Krauncha mountain, whose chest wears the garland of kadamba flowers! Attaining silence, realising you again and again, wearing the state beyond qualities where everything is gathered into one, I forgot myself; this body has as good as died.

Explanation

The 'death' here is not the end of the body but the vanishing of the thought 'I am this body'. Through realising Murugan again and again, the poet forgets himself in the state beyond qualities where all is one. As the spear pierced Krauncha, wisdom pierces the mountain of 'I'.

From the life of Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi

Ramana's death experience

At sixteen, the boy Venkataraman in Madurai was suddenly seized by the fear of death. He did not run. He lay on the floor, stiffened his body like a corpse and asked, 'This body is dead; but am I still here?' In that moment he realised the light of the 'I' beyond the body. Later he came to Thiruvannamalai and became Ramana Maharshi. That wisdom flowered in the same Arunai that Arunagirinathar sang of.
