Mahabharata, Vana ParvaJayadratha's Deliberate Wrong
From the Mahabharata, Vana Parva. One day during the exile, the Pandavas had gone hunting and Draupadi was alone at the hermitage. Jayadratha, king of Sindhu and husband of Duryodhana's sister, was passing that way and saw her.
Seizing the chance while the Pandavas were away, he deliberately forced her onto his chariot and carried her off. The returning Pandavas gave chase, defeated his army and rescued Draupadi.
Because he was a kinsman, Yudhishthira spared his life; Bhima shaved his head into five tufts in disgrace and sent him away. But Jayadratha did not reform; he did penance to win revenge. Later he became a cause of Abhimanyu's death and fell to Arjuna's vow. The wrong he did on purpose came back to find him.
