Meaning

His holy feet, the tandai and the anklets, the sharp spear that pierced right through the mountain, the kadamba garland, the twelve broad shoulders, the six fragrant, radiant faces and the flower-like eyes came in the form of the guru and leapt with joy within me, so that my heart grew cool.

Explanation

From feet to eyes, the form unfolds part by part; this is the shape of meditation. That whole form came 'as the guru' and leapt within. The Lord himself is the guru; he enters within and brings coolness.

From the tradition of Dakshinamurthy

The silent guru

Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana and Sanatkumara, the sons of Brahma, had learned every scripture yet their doubts remained. They came to the youthful Dakshinamurthy, seated facing south beneath a banyan tree. He spoke not a word; he showed the chin mudra and stayed silent. In that very silence all the doubts of the aged disciples were dispelled. The guru's form itself was the teaching.

Close your eyes and picture Murugan's form, from feet to eyes.
