From the Valmiki Ramayana (Bala Kanda)Rishyasringa and the Rain in Anga
From the Valmiki Ramayana. King Romapada ruled the land of Anga. Once the rains failed there, and the people suffered in famine. The king sought the counsel of learned Brahmins.
'Rishyasringa, son of the sage Vibhandaka, has grown up in the forest knowing no one but his father. He is a pure ascetic who knows nothing of the world. If he comes to this land, the rain will fall,' they said. The king arranged to bring him with honour.
The moment Rishyasringa set foot in Anga, the sky darkened and heavy rain poured down. The parched fields filled, the rivers ran and the people rejoiced. The king gave him his daughter Shanta in marriage. Later this same Rishyasringa performed the sacrifice for sons for King Dasharatha, from which Rama and his brothers were born.
The rain that fell for one ascetic's purity gave life to a whole kingdom, as water drawn for the paddy reaches the grass as well.
