Meaning
Damayanti, having seen the victorious prince and the girl, heard all the words he had spoken there; and before any reply could be given she was undone, fell down and wept.

இப்பாடல் தமயந்தியின் துயரத்தை உச்சத்தில் காட்டுகிறது. செய்தி முடியும் முன்னே அவள் வீழ்கிறாள். அதாவது தாங்க முடியாத நம்பிக்கை.
சுவையான நுட்பம்: 'மாற்றம் மொழியாத முன்னே' — பதில் சொல்லும் முன்னே. காதலின் வேகம் மொழியின் வேகத்தை மிஞ்சுகிறது. இதுவே நளவெண்பாவின் இறுதிப் பாதியின் இயக்கம்.
Explanation
The verse shows Damayanti's grief at its height: she falls before the message is finished, unable to bear hope.
Subtly, before a reply can be spoken: the speed of love outstrips the speed of speech, and this is the movement of the poem's second half.
