Explanation

Presenting the kings to the bride is part of the svayamvara custom. In Sri Harsha's Naishadha, it is Saraswathi, goddess of learning, who does this. Here iyal anangu, ‘the goddess-like one’, refers to the companion, though the word also recalls Saraswathi.

In the next fifteen verses, each king's land appears as a small picture of its wealth.

Nalavenba, Swayamvara Kandam; compare Mahabharata, Vana Parva (Nalopakhyana)

The Maid Introduces the Kings

The maid introduces each king and his land to Damayanti, a device typical of Tamil epic poetry.
