நைந்த நெஞ்சுடைய தமயந்தி அன்போடு (தன் தோழியிடம்), ‘பாலைவனத்தின் நடுவே நள்ளிருளில் என்னை விட்டுச் சென்ற கொடையாளனோ இந்தக் கோமான் என்று ஐயுறுகிறேன்; அவன் செய்யும் சமையல் தொழில்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும் தெரிந்து உணர்ந்து வா’ என்றாள்.
Meaning
Damayanthi, her heart worn thin, said tenderly to her maid: ‘I suspect this man may be the generous king who left me in the middle of the wilderness in the dead of night. Go and find out everything he does in his cooking, and come back.’

தமயந்தி வாகுவனைச் சோதிக்கத் தோழியை அனுப்புகிறாள். மகாபாரதத்தில் அவள் கேசினியை அனுப்புகிறாள்; அவள் நீர், நெருப்பு, மலர் ஆகியவற்றின் அற்புதங்களைக் கண்டு வருகிறாள். அவன் சமைத்த உணவைச் சுவைத்ததும் தமயந்திக்கு உறுதியாகிறது.
Explanation
Damayanthi sends her maid to test Vaahukan. In the Mahabharata she sends Keshini, who comes back having seen the wonders of water, fire and flowers; when Damayanthi tastes the food he has cooked, she is certain.
