Mahabharata, Mausala ParvaThe End of the Yadavas
From the Mahabharata, Mausala Parva. Krishna's Yadava clan flourished in strength and wealth. But in time pride and revelry grew among them.
One day, gathered on the shore at Prabhasa and drinking, the Yadavas began to talk of old battles and to insult one another. The argument turned into a fight. They pulled up the reeds growing on the shore, and the reeds turned into iron clubs. Striking one another with them, that great clan destroyed itself.
A clan no outside enemy could defeat fell root and all through quarrels within.
