Periya Puranam, life of Thirunalaippovar (Nandanar)Nandanar's Longing for Chidambaram
From the Periya Puranam. Nandanar of Adhanur was a farm labourer born into a low caste. His lifelong dream was to see Nataraja at Chidambaram. Because he said every day, 'I will go tomorrow,' he came to be called Thirunalaippovar, 'the one who will go tomorrow'.
At last he went to Chidambaram. At the Lord's command a fire was raised; Nandanar entered it and rose as a pure sage, walked into the temple and merged with Nataraja.
A humble man's longing for the temple brought him to God himself.
