பிச்சை எடுக்கும் நிலைக்கு வந்தாலும், செய்ய வேண்டிய கடமைகளைச் செய்யத் தவறாதே என்கிறார் ஔவை. வறுமை நம் சூழலை மாற்றலாம்; ஆனால் நம் கடமையை மாற்றக் கூடாது.
நல்ல காலத்தில் அறம் செய்வது எளிது. கெட்ட காலத்திலும் அதைத் தொடர்வதே உண்மையான பண்பு.
