வால்மீகி இராமாயணம், உத்தர காண்டம்அனுமனின் ஒருமுக பக்தி
வால்மீகி இராமாயணத்திலிருந்து. கிஷ்கிந்தையில் இராமனைச் சந்தித்த நாள் முதல் அனுமனின் உள்ளம் இராமனையே பற்றியிருந்தது. கடல் தாண்டியதும், இலங்கையை எரித்ததும், மூலிகை மலையைத் தூக்கியதும் எல்லாம் இராமனுக்காகவே.
பட்டாபிஷேகம் முடிந்து விடைபெறும் நேரத்தில், அனுமன் இராமனிடம் ஒரே வரம் கேட்டான்: “உலகில் இராம கதை பேசப்படும் வரை என் உயிர் நிலைக்க வேண்டும்; என் அன்பு உம்மை விட்டு ஒருபோதும் விலகக் கூடாது.” இராமன் அதை அருளினான்.
ஒருவனைப் பற்றி நின்ற அனுமன், இன்றும் இராம நாமம் ஒலிக்கும் இடமெல்லாம் இருப்பதாக நம்பப்படுகிறான்.

From the Valmiki Ramayana. From the day he met Rama in Kishkindha, Hanuman's heart held to Rama alone. Leaping the ocean, burning Lanka and carrying the mountain of herbs were all for Rama.
When the coronation was over and it was time to take leave, Hanuman asked Rama for a single boon: 'May my life last as long as the story of Rama is told in the world, and may my love never turn away from you.' Rama granted it.
Hanuman, who held to one, is believed to be present to this day wherever Rama's name is sung.
