Yoga VasishthaChudala and Shikhidhvaja
A story Vasishtha tells Rama in the Yoga Vasishtha. Chudala, queen of King Shikhidhvaja of Malava, attained wisdom through inquiry into the Self, and a new peace shone in her face. But the king paid no heed to her words.
Seeking peace, the king gave up his kingdom and went to the forest. Chudala did not abandon him. By her yogic power she took the form of a young sage named Kumbha, went to him and patiently guided him to wisdom.
When the king had realised the truth, she revealed her true form. The two returned to the palace and ruled with wisdom. A partner who cares eagerly for the other's good is not fire in the lap but a lamp that shows the way.
