Bhagavad Gita, chapter 18The Moment Arjuna's Delusion Ended
From the Bhagavad Gita in the Mahabharata. On the field of Kurukshetra Arjuna asked for his chariot to be halted between the two armies and saw before him his grandsire, his teachers and his kin. His bow Gandiva slipped from his hand. 'I do not want a kingdom won by killing these,' he said, and sank down weeping on the chariot floor. What was duty and what was right, his mind could no longer see; it groped in darkness.
Krishna taught him in seven hundred verses: of the undying Self, of action without attachment, of devotion and of wisdom. At the end he asked, 'Arjuna, have you heard this with a single mind? Has the delusion born of ignorance gone?'
Arjuna replied: 'Nashto mohah smritir labdha. By your grace, Achyuta, my delusion is destroyed and my memory has returned. I stand firm, my doubts gone; I will do as you say.' A confusion like night ended in a dawn. That dawn is what Kambar calls 'the dawn of the night of delusion'.
