Meaning

The spear praised by all the ancient worlds, which is poison to the asuras and nectar to the gods, like the fierce light of the sun to the sages of rare penance and like the coolness of the moon to loving devotees; which, for ascetics who have cut away the root of karma, ends their bitter foes and grants the station of endless bliss that even Indras cannot reach. O spear of the Kumara of Saravana, Guha, the six-faced warrior Murugan who dances alone, the husband who delights Valli, given by the hunters who offer pearls from elephant tusks and bamboo, musk, aloe wood, sandal, cloves, honey and palm!

Explanation

One spear: poison to the wicked, nectar to the good, sunlight to ascetics, moonlight's coolness to the loving. The Lord does not change; his grace appears to us according to the state of our hearts.

From the Bhagavatam and the Holi tradition

Holika's fire

Holika, sister of Hiranyakashipu, had a boon that fire would not touch her. She sat in a fire holding the boy Prahlada in her lap. Prahlada kept chanting Hari's name. The fire burned Holika, while for Prahlada it became a cool shade. The same fire was destruction for evil and protection for love. It is said this is the origin of the festival of Holi.

Does grace feel more like sunlight or moonlight to you today?
