கார்மேகம் போன்ற கூந்தலுடைய தமயந்தியின் மேல் தான் கொண்ட காதல் தோற்ற (கலியின்) தனி மனம் போல, நேர்மையற்றுப் புரளும் தன் தமையன் துவாபரனோடு கூடிக் கலி பகடையாகவே மாறிப் புரண்டான்.
Meaning
Like his own lone, wilful heart, which had longed in vain for the lady with cloud-dark hair, Kali joined his brother Dvapara, who rolls only crookedly, and became the dice himself, and rolled.

மகாபாரதத்தில் துவாபரன் பகடையில் புகுந்தான்; கலி நளனுள் புகுந்தான். இங்கே இருவரும் சேர்ந்து பகடையாகிறார்கள். ஆகவே நளன் வெல்லவே முடியாது.
தமயந்தியை அடைய முடியாத ஏமாற்றமே கலியின் பகைக்குக் காரணம் என்பது ‘காதலித்த தனிமனம்’ என்பதில் நினைவூட்டப்படுகிறது.
Explanation
In the Mahabharata, Dvapara entered the dice and Kali entered Nala. Here both together become the dice, so Nalan cannot possibly win.
‘The lone heart that longed for her’ reminds us that Kali's hatred springs from his failure to win Damayanthi.
