விளக்கம்
துன்பங்கள் வரும்; ஆனால் உள்ளம் உடையக்கூடாது. கீதை (2.56) "துக்கேஷ்வனுத்விக்னமனா:", துன்பத்தில் கலங்காத மனம் உடையவனே ஸ்திதப்ரஜ்ஞன் என்கிறது.
சீதை அசோக வனத்தில் இராவணனின் மிரட்டல்களுக்கு நடுவிலும் இராமன்மீது கொண்ட நம்பிக்கையைச் சிதைய விடவில்லை. திருநாவுக்கரசர் பல்லவ அரசனின் அழைப்பை மறுத்து "நாமார்க்கும் குடியல்லோம், நமனை அஞ்சோம்" என்று பாடினார்; சுண்ணாம்புக் காளவாயில் இடப்பட்டபோதும் அவர் உள்ளம் உடையவில்லை. உடையாத நெஞ்சத்துக்கு அடிப்படை இறை நம்பிக்கை.
Explanation
Sorrows will come, but the heart must not break. The Gita (2.56) calls one whose mind is not shaken in sorrow a person of steady wisdom.
In the Ashoka grove, amid Ravana's threats, Sita never let her faith in Rama be shattered. Thirunavukkarasar refused the Pallava king's summons, singing, 'We are subject to no one; we do not fear death', and even when thrown into a lime kiln his spirit did not break. The root of an unbreakable heart is faith in God.
