Explanation
Thiruvalluvar wrote a whole chapter on reading signs. 'One who reads the unspoken meaning in a face is an ornament to the whole sea-girt world' (Kural 701).
Dakshinamurti taught the sages Sanaka and the rest in silence, through the chin mudra. In Bharathi Arupathaaru, Kullachami taught Vedanta simply by pointing to a wall, the sun and a well. Subtle understanding does not need words.
