Meaning

Look at this young bull with the deadly gleaming spear: he is the king of Panchala, where a fish breaks free of the hook, leaps high and tears the red sheath of the areca palm, and honey runs down onto the green blades of red paddy.

Explanation

The king of Panchala. The playful exaggeration of a fish leaping as high as an areca palm shows how full of water and life the land is.

In the Mahabharata, Panchala was Draupadi's homeland, and her own svayamvara was held there.

Nalavenba, Swayamvara Kandam; compare Mahabharata, Vana Parva (Nalopakhyana)

The King of Panchala

The maid praises the king of Panchala. Damayanti passes him by.
