பொருள்
'தகத் தகத் தக தகதக' என்று ஆட மாட்டோமோ? 'சிவசக்தி, சக்தி, சக்தி' என்று பாட மாட்டோமோ?
உள்ளத்தின் உள்ளுக்குள் நின்றாள் அவள்; அம்மை, அம்மை, எங்களை நாடி வந்து பொய்யை வென்றாள். தகுந்தபடி நமக்கு அருள் புரிவாள்; அவள் திருவடி ஒன்றே சரணம் என்று நாம் வாழ்த்துவோம்.
உள்ளே புகப் புக இன்பமடா! பொழுதெல்லாம் சூதை எல்லாம் வெளியே தள்ளிவிடு. அங்கே உள்ளக் குகைக்குள் தீ போல அவள் இருக்கிறாள் - தாயின் காலடியில் கிடக்கும் குழந்தை போல (நாம் அவள் அடியில்).
மிகுந்த களிப்பில் உடல் சோர, உள்ளத்து வீரம் எழுந்து சோர்வை வென்று கை தேர, உலகில் உள்ள மனிதர் எல்லாம் 'நன்று, நன்று' என்று போற்ற, நாம் நயமாகத் தாளமும் இசையும் ஒன்றாகும்படி (ஆடுவோம்).
இந்திரனின் உலகில்தான் நல்ல இன்பம் இருக்கிறது என்பார்கள்; அதை இங்கேயே கொண்டு வந்து, மந்திரம் போலச் சொல்லின்பம் வேண்டுமடா; நல்ல பித்துக் களிப்பில் அமுத நிலையைக் கண்டு (ஆடுவோம்).
Meaning
Shall we not dance, 'thakath thakath thaka thakathaka'? Shall we not sing, 'Shiva-Shakti, Shakti, Shakti'?
She stood deep within the heart; Mother, Mother, she came seeking us and conquered falsehood. She will grant us grace as is fitting; let us praise her, saying her feet alone are our refuge.
The deeper you go in, the greater the joy, friend! At all times push every trick and deceit outside. There, within the cave of the heart, she is like a flame - and we are like a child lying at its mother's feet.
Let the body sink in overflowing ecstasy; let the heart's courage rise, conquer weariness and make the hands skilled; let all the people of the world say 'good, good'; let us, with grace, make rhythm and melody one [and dance].
They say true joy is to be found only in Indra's world; let us bring it here, friend. We want the joy of words like a mantra; in a good, holy madness, let us find the state of nectar [and dance].

விளக்கம்
இது ஆடலுக்கான பாட்டு. 'தகத் தகத் தக' என்ற சொற்கள் காலடியின் ஓசையும், நெருப்பின் 'தகதக' ஒளியும் ஒரே நேரத்தில். சிவனின் ஆனந்தத் தாண்டவத்தைப் போல, சக்தியின் கூத்தும் பக்தனின் உடலில் நிகழ்கிறது.
'புகப் புகப் புக இன்பம்' என்பது உள்நோக்கிய பயணம். வெளியே தேடுவதில் அல்ல, உள்ளே போகப் போக ஆனந்தம் பெருகுகிறது. 'குகைக்குள் தீ' - உபநிடதங்கள் சொல்லும் இதயக் குகையில் உறையும் ஒளி.
கடைசிப் பகுதியில் பாரதியின் வழக்கமான கருத்து: இந்திரலோகத்து இன்பம் மேலே எங்கோ இல்லை; அதை இங்கேயே கொண்டுவரலாம். 'மதம்' என்பது இங்குத் தெய்வ போதை - பக்திப் பித்து. ஆழ்வார்களும் நாயன்மார்களும் பேசிய அந்தப் பித்துதான் இது.
Explanation
This is a song for dancing. 'Thakath thakath thaka' is at once the sound of dancing feet and the flicker of fire. Like Shiva's ananda tandava, the dance of Shakti happens in the devotee's own body.
'The deeper you go in, the greater the joy' is the inward journey. Bliss grows not by searching outside but by going within. 'Flame in the cave' is the light the Upanishads place in the cave of the heart.
The last part carries a favourite idea of Bharathiyar's: the joy of Indra's heaven is not somewhere far above; it can be brought here. 'Madam' here means divine intoxication, the holy madness of bhakti that the Alvars and Nayanmars sang of.
