பொருள்
பொய் பேசான், வைதுபேசான், புறங்கூறான், எல்லோருக்கும் உண்மையையே சொல்கிறான், சொல்லக்கூடாததை விட்டுவிடுகிறான், பொருந்தாத சொல்லைச் சொல்லான். மயில் போன்ற கூந்தலை உடையவளே, இவன் இவ்வுலகை விட்டு விண்ணவர்க்கு வேந்தன் ஆகிறான்.
Meaning
He does not lie, does not abuse, does not slander, speaks the truth to everyone, leaves unsaid what should be left unsaid, and says nothing that does not fit. O you of peacock-like hair, such a man leaves this world and becomes a king to the gods.

Explanation
Six rules of speech are given: five refusals and one insistence, that one should speak the truth.
Not saying all that is in the mind is the subtle one. Saying everything you think may be truthful, but it need not be right. This line marks the gap between what is true and what is useful.
