இது புதிய ஆத்திசூடியின் மையக் கட்டளை. சாந்தோக்ய உபநிடதத்தின் "தத் த்வம் அஸி", அது நீயே (6.8.7); பிருஹதாரண்யகத்தின் "அஹம் ப்ரஹ்மாஸ்மி", நானே பிரம்மம் (1.4.10) ஆகிய மகாவாக்கியங்களின் சாரம் இது.
இது அகந்தை அல்ல. தன்னை உடலாகவும் சிறு "நான்" ஆகவும் எண்ணுவதே அகந்தை; தன்னுள் இருப்பது எல்லாருள்ளும் இருக்கும் ஒரே இறைவன் என்று உணர்வது அகந்தையை அழிக்கிறது. "ஈஶ்வர: ஸர்வபூதானாம் ஹ்ருத்தேஶே அர்ஜுன திஷ்டதி" (கீதை 18.61): இறைவன் எல்லா உயிர்களின் இதயத்திலும் இருக்கிறான். தன்னைத் தெய்வம் என்று உணர்ந்தவன் பிறரையும் தெய்வமாகக் காண்பான்; அவனால் அஞ்சவும் முடியாது, பிறரைத் துன்புறுத்தவும் முடியாது.
Explanation
This is the central precept of the Pudhiya Aathichoodi. It is the essence of the great sayings 'tat tvam asi', you are That (Chandogya Upanishad 6.8.7), and 'aham brahmasmi', I am Brahman (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.4.10).
This is not arrogance. Arrogance is taking oneself to be the body and the little 'I'; realising that what is within is the one God who is within all destroys arrogance. 'The Lord dwells in the hearts of all beings, Arjuna' (Gita 18.61). One who knows himself as divine sees others as divine too; he can neither fear nor harm.
