தோல்வியில் கலங்காதே. தோற்றாலும் மனம் உடையாமல் மீண்டும் எழு.

விளக்கம்
தோல்வி முடிவல்ல; கற்றுக்கொள்ளும் ஒரு படி. கீதை (2.38) "ஸுகதுக்கே ஸமே க்ருத்வா லாபாலாபௌ ஜயாஜயௌ": இன்பத்தையும் துன்பத்தையும், லாபத்தையும் நஷ்டத்தையும், வெற்றியையும் தோல்வியையும் சமமாகக் கொண்டு போரிடு என்கிறது. கீதை (2.48) "ஸித்த்யஸித்த்யோ: ஸமோ பூத்வா", வெற்றி தோல்வியில் சம மனம் கொள்வதே யோகம் என்கிறது.
பாண்டவர்கள் சூதாட்டத்தில் எல்லாம் இழந்தனர்; பதின்மூன்று ஆண்டு பொறுத்துப் பின் வென்றனர். திருவள்ளுவர் "இடுக்கண் படினும் இளிவந்த செய்யார் நடுக்கற்ற காட்சி யவர்" (குறள் 654) என்கிறார்.
Explanation
Defeat is not the end but a step in learning. The Gita (2.38) says, 'Treating alike pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat, then fight.' The Gita (2.48) calls evenness of mind in success and failure yoga itself.
The Pandavas lost everything at the game of dice, endured thirteen years and then won. Thiruvalluvar says that those of unshaken vision do nothing mean even when they fall into trouble (Kural 654).
