Explanation

Among Patanjali's yamas is 'asteya', non-stealing (Yoga Sutra 2.30). 'When one is established in non-stealing, all treasures come of themselves' (2.37). The Isha Upanishad (verse 1) says, 'Do not covet another's wealth.'
In his chapter on not stealing Thiruvalluvar says that even to think in one's heart of stealing another's property is evil (Kural 282). In Bharathi Arupathaaru Govinda Swami says that if people gave up theft there would be food for all without toil. Both a person's theft and one nation's seizing of another's wealth are condemned here. It is fitting that this follows 'take the lead of the world': one who leads the world must never seize what belongs to others.
