Now going and returning, now entering and leaving again — so it was with the mind of the spear-bearer whose form was Death, like the churning hands of those who stir the boiled milk the cowherds bring.

இப்பாடல் நளனின் தயக்கத்தைக் காட்டுகிறது. மனம் போகச் சொல்கிறது, திரும்பி வருகிறது — கடைவார் கைபோல் முன்னும் பின்னும் அசைகிறது. அதாவது பிரிவு முடிவு எடுக்கப்பட்டது; ஆனால் உள்ளம் இன்னும் முடிவு எடுக்கவில்லை.

Explanation
The verse shows Nalan's hesitation. The mind says go and comes back, moving to and fro like the churning hands: the decision to part is taken, but the heart has not yet taken it.
Subtly, he appears in the form of Death — a man who lost his life in a game of dice now looks like death itself.
