Angki yamuthamnee rampoo aniyaatai / Engkunee vaentinaimar ravvitaththae - sangkaiyarap / Perraa yenavaruna aakalantan tharuman / Marroanu meenthaar varam.
Fire, nectar, water, arrows, flowers, fine raiment: whatever you asked for, you received there without doubt, they said, and the sun, the fire, the god of death and another gave him boons.
The verse lists the boons the gods grant Nalan, seven things in a row.
Subtly, all of them will be needed later in the story, so the poet prepares in advance; these gifts will serve the events to come.
Four deities give boons, so the protagonist now has divine support, and yet that support will not save him from sorrow.
Even divine favour will not keep a man from sorrow.
