Meaning
At the moment I saw the Marli dance being performed, the heart of me, the least one in the bazaar, was a fruit that blossomed and set; will it ripen and show itself plainly, or will it burst and fall? Even if it falls unburst, will it come into my hand? Will the monkey called 'Khursan' snatch the ripened fruit? Or will the squirrel that rules here bite it? Without the slightest doubt I shall get it and eat it here - or will it burn up my service, and is there anything at all I know how to say?

Explanation
This is Bharathiyar reworking a song by Ramalinga Swamigal. He takes himself as a fruit, the least one in the bazaar, and names three dangers: the fruit may burst before it ripens, it may not reach his hand, and monkeys and squirrels may take it.
'The squirrel that rules here' is the sharpest touch: a squirrel bite can be worse than the monkey's theft, because petty authority is more wearing than danger itself.
The close is confident - he will get it and eat it. That is a valour wrapped in humility, a note of self-belief set inside a devotional frame.
To reflect on
Seeing oneself as a piece of fruit and treating ripening as work rather than fate - what does that say?
