Maamanunool vaazha varusan thiransuvarkki / Thaamaraiyaal vaikun thatanthoalaan - kaamarupoon / Thaaraan muranainakar thaanenru saarralaam / Paaraalum vaenthan pathi.
Where the books of the great sages live, the city of the king who rules the world, the broad-shouldered lord on whom the lotus goddess dwells and who wears the garland of lovely flowers: it may be called Muranai.
The verse names the city and its king. Muranai is the capital of Nishadha.
That the books of the great sages live there is worth noticing: this is a city that makes room for knowledge, which shows where the counsels that come later in the story are rooted.
This king is the hero of the story: a ruler who holds strength and understanding together.
A real city is one that makes room for knowledge.
