Meaning

Would men of unfailing worth throw away their precious lives wherever anger strikes them? Those with the strength of mind to stand their ground even under great insult and see their purpose through do not give up their lives in a fit of anger.

Explanation

Destroying oneself in anger is not strength. To bear insult and still finish what one set out to do is true strength of mind.

This chapter presents restraint not as weakness but as strength.

To reflect on

To be destroyed by anger is not strength.
