Explanation

Because a Tamil word cannot begin with 'la', the word is written with an added 'u', '(u)lokam'. Iron and steel are a nation's strength. Ancient India was a pioneer in metallurgy: the iron pillar of Delhi stands unrusted, the 'wootz' steel of South India was famous across the world, and the Chola bronzes are a treasure of world art.
The siddha tradition held detailed knowledge of metals, and the Vishwakarma communities were the guardians of metalcraft. Bharathiyar wanted this knowledge to grow again so that the nation could prosper in industry.
