Meaning

Taking the high one as leader, looking to him who is worthy, reading the books of the great and keeping himself lowly, doing that rare and high austerity: this, they said, is release. Those who have done great austerity are the great.

Explanation

Release is described as four steps: a leader, a worthy model, the books, and keeping oneself low. That last word is the heart of it, since knowledge without humility has learned nothing.

To reflect on

As knowledge grows, humility must grow with it.
