பொருள்
நிறைந்த கேள்வி அறிவின் பயனை உணர்ந்தவர்கள் செல்வம் இழந்து துன்பப்படுவது ஏன் என்று அறிய விரும்பினால்: பழம்பெருமை உடைய நாமகள் (சரஸ்வதி) அவர்களிடம் தங்கியிருப்பதால், பூமகள் (திருமகள், லட்சுமி) பிணங்கிக் கொண்டு அவர்களைச் சேர மாட்டாள்.
Meaning
If you wonder why those who have gained the fruit of wide learning lose their fortune and suffer, it is this: because Saraswati, the ancient goddess of the tongue, dwells with them, Lakshmi, the goddess of the lotus, sulks and will not join them.
