பழைய ரிவரென்று பன்னாட்பின் நிற்பின்உழையினிய ராகுவர் சான்றோர் - விழையாதேகள்ளுயிர்க்கும் நெய்தற் கனைகடல் தண்சேர்ப்பஎள்ளுவர் கீழா யவர்.

பொருள்
'இவர் பழைய நண்பர்' என்று எண்ணிப் பலநாள் ஒருவர் தம்மைச் சார்ந்து நின்றால், சான்றோர் அவருக்கு மேலும் இனியவர் ஆவர். கள் மணக்கும் நெய்தல் மலர்கள் உள்ள, ஒலிக்கும் கடலின் குளிர்ந்த கரையுடைய தலைவனே! கீழோரோ அன்பு இல்லாமல் அவரை இகழ்வர்.
Meaning
When someone has stood by them for many days, the noble grow even kinder, thinking 'he is an old friend'. O lord of the cool shore of the roaring sea, where the neythal flowers breathe out honey: the base, without any affection, only mock such a man.
