Explanation

In his chapter on farming Thiruvalluvar says, 'However the world may turn, it follows the plough; so, toilsome though it is, farming is foremost' (Kural 1031), and 'Only those who live by the plough truly live' (Kural 1033).
Balarama carried the plough as his weapon and is called 'Halayudha'. When King Janaka ploughed the field for a sacrifice, Sita was found at the plough's tip, and so she was named Sita, the furrow. To honour farming is to honour life itself.
