பாடலின் ஒப்பீடு நகைச்சுவையானது. கடலில் ஆடச் சென்றவர் அலை ஓய்ந்தபின் ஆடுவோம் என்கிறார். ஆனால் கடல் ஓயவே ஓயாது. அதுபோல் வீட்டுக் கடன்களைத் தீர்த்தபின் அறம் செய்வோம் என்பவரும் காத்திருப்பார்.

Explanation
The comparison is wry. A man who goes to bathe in the sea says he will swim once the waves quiet down. But the sea never quiets. So too the man who says he will do good once the household debts are cleared.
What the image says is that the condition never ends. One debt is cleared and another arrives. If virtue must wait for a free hour, the hour never comes. So the verse mocks the habit of turning good deeds into a postponed errand. Whoever waits for the noise of life to die down will never swim.
