Uyirpoayaar ventalai utkas siriththus / Seyirtheerkkum semmaap pavarais - seyirtheernthaar / Kantir rithanvanna menpathanaal thammaiyoar / Pantaththul vaippa thilar.

Meaning

The white skull of the dead laughs inwardly and brings down those who strut with pride. The noble, having seen what its colour is, do not count themselves among such things.

Explanation

The laughter happens inwardly, unheard. That is what makes it able to bring pride down.

The last phrase is subtle. One who does not count himself among things does not fear the fate of things.

To reflect on

Whoever does not count himself a thing does not fear a thing's end.
