Meaning
You that stand, you that walk, you that fly! Are you all only a dream? Are you the delusions of many appearances? You that are learned, you that are heard, you that are thought! Are you all petty illusions? Is there no deep substance within you?
O sky, O morning sunlight, O dense trees! Are you all the water of a mirage? Only an error of sight? Because all that is gone has sunk and perished like a dream, am I too a dream? Is this world also false?
The one thought called time, the many thoughts called sight, and forms: are they lies? Are their qualities lies as well? If all the trees of a grove come from a single seed, does the grove become false? Will anyone dismiss this as mere words?
If all that is seen disappears, does that mean we will see again all that has disappeared? Does destiny run on, day after day, over an empty lie? We have found that what is seen is certain; apart from what is seen there is no certainty. What is seen is Shakti; this vision is eternal.

Explanation
The title of this song is 'Questioning the World'; some editions also call it 'True or False?'. Here Bharathiyar puts to the question the idea that 'the world is false, mere illusion'.
Adi Shankara's Advaita says 'Brahman is real, the world is mithya'. But mithya does not mean 'non-existent'; it means 'dependent on Brahman'. Bharathiyar speaks from the Shakta view: the world is the expression of Shakti, and so it is not false. 'What is seen is Shakti; this vision is eternal.'
The seed and the grove is a lovely image. In the Chandogya Upanishad (6.12) Uddalaka breaks open a banyan seed for his son Svetaketu: nothing can be seen inside, yet from that subtle essence the great banyan rises, 'tat tvam asi', you are that. If the seed is real, says Bharathiyar, the grove that came from it is real too.
To reflect on
Can you see Shakti's expression in something you dismissed today as worthless?
