Explanation

Indrani is the wife of Indra, held up as a model of fidelity.

Fidelity here is not only within the home; it is a dignity of bearing that gives no one room for a wrong thought.

Puranic tradition (the story of Anasuya)

Anasuya and the Three Gods

From Puranic tradition. Anasuya, wife of the sage Atri, was so famous for her purity that the three great gods came to test her. Disguised as wandering ascetics, they asked for food, but only if she served it to them unclothed.

Anasuya neither refused the guests nor broke her virtue. She sprinkled water from her husband's feet on them, and the three gods became infants. Then she fed them as a mother feeds her children. When their wives came begging for their husbands back, she restored them, and the gods blessed her with a son who was all three in one: Dattatreya. A virtuous woman's strength protected both her honour and her duty to her guests.
