ரிக்வேதத்தின் இறுதி மந்திரம் (10.191.2–4) "ஸங்கச்சத்வம் ஸம்வதத்வம்": ஒன்றாகச் செல்லுங்கள், ஒன்றாகப் பேசுங்கள், உங்கள் மனங்கள் ஒன்றாக இருக்கட்டும், உங்கள் நோக்கம் ஒன்றாக இருக்கட்டும் என்று வேண்டுகிறது.
பஞ்சதந்திரத்தில் வலையில் சிக்கிய புறாக்கள் ஒன்றாகப் பறந்து வலையோடு தப்பிய கதை ஒற்றுமையின் வலிமையைக் காட்டுகிறது. பாண்டவர் ஐவர் ஒற்றுமையால் வென்றனர். சாதி, மொழி, மதம் என்று பிரிந்து கிடந்த நாட்டைப் பார்த்துப் பாரதி "ஒன்றுபட்டால் உண்டு வாழ்வே, நம்மில் ஒற்றுமை நீங்கில் அனைவர்க்கும் தாழ்வே" என்று பாடினார்.
Explanation
The last hymn of the Rig Veda (10.191.2 to 4) prays, 'sam gacchadhvam sam vadadhvam': move together, speak together, let your minds be one and your purpose one.
In the Panchatantra the pigeons caught in a net fly up together and escape with the net, a lesson in the strength of unity. The five Pandavas won through their oneness. Seeing a nation divided by caste, language and creed, Bharathiyar sang, 'United, we live; if unity leaves us, all of us fall.'
