விரிநிற நாகம் விடருள தேனும்உருமின் கடுஞ்சினம் சேணின்றும் உட்கும்அருமை யுடைய அரண்சேர்ந்தும் உய்யார்பெருமை யுடையார் செறின்.

பொருள்
விரிந்த நிறத்தையுடைய பாம்பு பிளவில் இருந்தாலும், இடியின் கொடுஞ்சினம் தூரத்திலிருந்தும் அஞ்சும். அரிய அரணைச் சேர்ந்திருந்தாலும், பெருமையுடையார் சினந்தால் யாரும் தப்ப முடியாது.
Meaning
Though the many-hued snake lies in a cleft, the fierce anger of thunder is feared from afar. Even sheltering in an unassailable fortress, none escapes when the great are angered.
