மனத்தான் மறுவில ரேனுந்தாம் சேர்ந்தஇனத்தால் இகழப் படுவர் - புனத்துவெறிகமழ் சந்தனமும் வேங்கையும் வேமேஎறிபுனம் தீப்பட்டக் கால்.

பொருள்
மனத்தில் குற்றம் இல்லாதவர்களாக இருந்தாலும், தாம் சேர்ந்த இனத்தால் இகழப்படுவர். காட்டு நிலத்தில் தீப்பற்றினால், மணம் கமழும் சந்தன மரமும் வேங்கை மரமும் கூட (மற்ற மரங்களோடு) எரிந்துபோகும்.
Meaning
Even those with no fault in their hearts are scorned for the company they keep. When fire sweeps a cleared forest plot, the fragrant sandalwood and the vēngai tree burn along with everything else.
